How to make Incredible Edible Play Dough

Edible Play Dough

Toddlers and bigger kids love playing with this. We’ve made it so many times now and my kids STILL look forward to when plan to make it again. You’ll never believe how easy and fun it is to make. When you think of edible play dough, what ingredients do you imagine? Will it taste sweet? Will it have flour? How soft will it feel? I can’t wait to show you!

Incredible Edible Play Dough

The secret ingredients? Frosting and powdered sugar! The two ingredients come together to make the softest, fluffiest, and coolest play dough you can make. You can use white frosting, as we did, or you can use colored frosting. Or, you can add a couple drops of food coloring!

  • 1 cup of pre-made frosting

  • cups of powdered sugar

Tools Needed:

Place the powdered sugar in the mixing bowl of a stand mixer. Slowly add the powdered sugar to the bowl while mixing on low speed. Continually scrape the sides of the bowl to ensure all of the ingredients are mixed. Stir in additional powdered sugar to the mixture until the consistency isn’t sticky but more soft and fluffy.

If, by chance, you added a little too much-powdered sugar, don’t worry! We aren’t perfect and this is a fun recipe! Simply sprinkle a little olive oil or coconut oil into the homemade playdough and BOOM! Problem solved! Edible playdough recipes should all be this easy:) The leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator, but the dough is best used at room temperature. A microwave can be used for a few seconds to warm the frosting back up!
